Pakistani PM Says US-Iran Peace Deal Very Close

(MENAFN) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared Saturday that Iran and the United States stand on the cusp of a historic peace agreement, asserting that a final deal could be signed within the next 24 hours.

Writing on X, the US social media platform, Sharif said the negotiations had entered their conclusive phase and expressed strong confidence that a breakthrough was imminent.

"We are closer to a peace deal than ever before," he wrote.

Sharif disclosed that Islamabad is already making preparations for an electronic signing of the agreement the moment it is finalized, with technical-level talks expected to commence the following week to begin mapping out implementation and other related matters.

The Pakistani leader also extended his appreciation to both Washington and Tehran for their sustained engagement throughout the negotiating process, framing the anticipated accord as a transformative moment with consequences that extend well beyond the two parties.

"We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace," Sharif said.

The prospective agreement arrives after months of dangerously elevated tensions between Washington and Tehran that had stoked alarm over regional security, the safety of key maritime trade routes, and broader stability across the Middle East.

Pakistan has been a central force in bringing the two sides to this point, acting as a trusted intermediary and helping to bridge entrenched differences through sustained back-channel diplomacy over recent months.

Should the deal be finalized, it would mark a watershed moment in US-Iran relations — though analysts caution that further rounds of complex negotiations on political, economic, and security matters are expected to follow.
