Trump Amplifies Pakistani PM’s Remarks on Prospective US–Iran Peace Deal

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump on Saturday reposted a statement from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concerning the possibility of a prospective agreement between the United States and Iran, sharing it on his Truth Social platform.

The message, originally posted by Sharif on X, suggested that negotiations had reached an advanced stage and expressed optimism about achieving a breakthrough. Sharif wrote, “We are closer to a peace deal than ever before.”

In his statement, Sharif indicated that Pakistan—described as having played a mediating role in a ceasefire between the US and Israel during the conflict involving Iran earlier in April—is preparing for the electronic signing of the agreement once it is finalized. He also noted that technical discussions are expected to begin next week to address implementation details and related arrangements.

The Pakistani premier also expressed appreciation for the continued engagement of both Washington and Tehran in the talks.

He further voiced confidence that the emerging agreement could serve as a foundation for long-term stability, stating, “We are confident that this historic peace deal will form a strong foundation for lasting peace.”
