Kazakh, Israeli Leaders Hold Talks in Astana
Tokayev's office confirmed the meeting in an official statement, with the Kazakh leader describing bilateral ties between the two nations as enduring and deeply rooted — built on a foundation of "close and exceptionally friendly relations" yielding "significant" gains across economic and political fronts.
Framing Astana's landmark decision as a regional peace gesture, Tokayev declared: "I would also like to emphasize that Kazakhstan has decided to join the Abraham Accords," describing the step as "readiness and intention to contribute to the stabilization of relations between the countries of the Middle East and Israel."
He further stressed that the untapped potential between both countries demands urgent action, stating the partnership "is enormous, and it must be fully utilized."
Herzog, who arrived in Astana leading a high-powered industry delegation, welcomed Tokayev's commitment with optimism. "I have brought with me a representative delegation of industry experts who can give impetus to our partnership, particularly in high technology," the Israeli president said.
Looking ahead, Herzog added: "The potential for our cooperation, as the world enters a new historical era, is truly enormous."
The two nations have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations since 1992. Kazakhstan's accession to the Abraham Accords — the landmark 2020 normalization framework that brought nations including the UAE and Bahrain into formal relations with Tel Aviv — was initially confirmed in November of last year, with Monday's summit cementing the political momentum behind that decision.
