U.S. Declares Will Block All Uranium Enrichment by Iran
"The AUTOPEN should have stopped Iran a long time ago from 'enriching.' Under our potential Agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!" Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.
This declaration follows reports suggesting that a US proposal, delivered to Iran on Saturday, could allow limited low-level uranium enrichment within the country for an unspecified timeframe.
According to a report from a US-based news outlet, the plan aims to suspend Iran’s development of new centrifuge technologies, confine uranium enrichment strictly to civilian uses, and create a regional oversight body to monitor compliance.
The proposal would also prohibit Iran from constructing new enrichment facilities and mandate the dismantling of crucial uranium processing infrastructure, sources told the news outlet.
The fifth round of nuclear talks between the US and Iran took place on May 23 in Rome, facilitated by Oman.
Having withdrawn the US from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, Trump is pushing for a new deal, reiterating his stance that Iran will not be permitted to acquire a nuclear weapon.
